Baked Dona Chai Doughnuts

Think doughnuts are too difficult to tackle for the home cook?  You're wrong?  These delicious treats will delight everyone.  Perfect for an early morning sweet treat, midday as a pick-me-up snack or after dinner as a dessert delight.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup Dona Chai
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350-degrees. Grease a donut pan and set aside
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, baking powder and salt
  3. In a separate bowl, combine Dona Chai, egg and half of the melted butter
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and whisk until just combined
  5. Pour the batter into a large Ziploc bag and then snip a triangle off one corner of the bag
  6. Pipe the batter into the donut pan, filling each mold until almost full
  7. Bake the donuts for about 10-minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the donut comes out clean
  8. Turn out the donuts onto a cooling rack and let cool
  9. As the donuts cool, make the topping. Place melted butter in a bowl. In a separate bowl, mix together cinnamon and sugar
  10. Once the donuts are cooled, quickly dip each donut in the melted butter and lightly coat with the cinnamon and sugar mixture

Donuts are best served warm.
