Living in the jungles of Borneo for a year, the bright pungency and deep complexity of the local Sarawak black pepper was an indispensable ingredient in Alex Sorenson's kitchen. It wasn’t long before it found its way into a cocktail with either vodka or gin, alongside the local kalamansi limes growing in the yard. After the Sarawak Sling was born, things have never been the same; our days have been brighter, our evenings merrier, and life is just better.
Bring the bright lushness and vibrancy of the Pacific tropics to your next soiree with a batch of these intriguing crowd-pleasers. Citrusy tang, the subtle pungency of Black Pepper Rich Simple Syrup, and the rounding sweetness of palm sugar make for a guaranteed hit at the bar. Pairs well with a hammock.
- ½ oz Black Pepper Rich Simple Syrup
- 2 oz gin (or vodka)
- 2 oz fresh lime juice
- splash of club soda
Shake syrup, gin (or vodka), lime juice and ice; top with club soda, a lime slice and freshly cracked black pepper. Turn off your phone, settle back into your hammock, and appreciate the glory of doing nothing but sipping a fine beverage.
